But when you ask Jed Languayan, the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kalibrr.com\/employers?utm_source=facebook&amp;utm_medium=in-text&amp;utm_campaign=b2b-social-content&amp;utm_content=in-text-021818\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">IT Risk Officer<\/a><\/strong> of Bank of Makati begs to disagree. \u201cYou\u2019d be surprised at how many companies don\u2019t see the full need of IT security,\u201d he started.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"Post__SectionWrapper-sc-174xy8l-1 jkcuFG\">\u201cThat\u2019s why I take my job so seriously: it\u2019s not every day you find a company that invests a lot in this technology. At the end of the day, doing my job well means protecting the customer.\u201d Indeed, the AMA Computer Learning Center graduate has always been ahead of the curve when it comes to the role of IT. \u201cI\u2019ve always been driven by the pursuit of continuous improvement: for process standards, work methods, and operation strategies,\u201d he shared excitedly. \u201cUltimately, this doesn\u2019t just make work easier for everyone\u2014it also guarantees that clients get what they paid for. When one delves deeper into his professional philosophy, one gets impressed with his views that aren\u2019t just typical platitudes. \u201cChallenge is my personal preference. Being an IT Servicing professional, I want to make a career out of an opportunity, not just a job,\u201d he states. \u201cWhen choosing which company to work for, you have to see the path you can pursue there in the long run. If you don\u2019t see yourself growing, go with something else.\u201dSavvy jobseeker that he is, it\u2019s not surprising then that Languayan has reached this point in his career.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"Post__SectionWrapper-sc-174xy8l-1 jkcuFG\">After successful stints in <strong>RightCloud<\/strong> and <strong>G<\/strong><strong>rabAgility<\/strong>, along with a completed online course in Operations Management from The Wharton School via Coursera, he was glad to finally land his current role at <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kalibrr.com\/job-board\/te\/bank\/1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Bank of Makati<\/a><\/strong>. \u201cWhen I left my previous company, I was looking for something that would expose me to IT governance,\u201d said Jed. \u201cI wanted something that was managerial. Being that high up would mean enabling me to evaluate the performance of the whole IT scope within an organization.\u201d And land it he did. But it wasn\u2019t just professional philosophies that got him the role\u2014Jed has his strategic tactics, too.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"Post__SectionWrapper-sc-174xy8l-1 jkcuFG\">\u201cWhen I\u2019m <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kalibrr.com\/?user_ref=facebook_free_b2b-social-content_in-text-021818\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">looking for a good job<\/a><\/strong>, I look at two main factors: the role and the company. If the role isn\u2019t challenging enough, I look elsewhere,\u201d he says. \u201cAnd you can assess if a company is good through a few key metrics: years in the market, compensation packages, if they truly understand the needs of the customer, and of course, how much they invest in their employees,\u201d he added. \u201cBut it\u2019s not that easy to find a company that satisfies all four.\u201d Indeed, when <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kalibrr.com\/pro?utm_source=facebook&amp;utm_medium=in-text&amp;utm_campaign=b2b-social-content&amp;utm_content=in-text&amp;ref=facebook_free_b2b-social-content_in-text\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Kalibrr Pro<\/a><\/strong> came calling, Jed was pleasantly surprised. \u201cI had just left my previous role, but I wasn\u2019t really looking for a job right then. That\u2019s why when the recruiter from Kalibrr Pro called, I was glad.\u201d<\/div>\n<div class=\"Post__SectionWrapper-sc-174xy8l-1 jkcuFG\">\n<h2><\/h2>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"More_than_just_being_a_recruiter\"><\/span>More than just being a recruiter<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Based on Jed\u2019s account, he was ultimately turned down for the first role that the recruiter endorsed him for. But she was bent on helping him land a great role. \u201cMy recruiter was determined to find me a great fit. I was really impressed when she followed through, giving me this opportunity even when I didn\u2019t pass the first one,\u201d he shared. \u201cI thought to myself, \u2018Wow, galing<em> ah<\/em>!\u201d Jed was very thankful for the relentless support of his recruiter. But let\u2019s not forget the work he put in, too:<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"Post__SectionWrapper-sc-174xy8l-1 jkcuFG\">\n<p>\u201cWhen a recruiter approaches you, it\u2019s okay to really be transparent about everything with them. They have the intention to connect you with the right company and opportunity. Being extremely honest enhances the chances that you\u2019d really benefit from each other.\u201d And it seems like it worked. Now that Languayan has settled into his new role, he\u2019s not looking back. \u201cI\u2019m definitely recommending Kalibrr to my colleagues.
