But have you heard about Google’s resume formula?\u00a0Google\u2019s senior vice president of people operations, Laszlo Bock, shares his best advice to prospective applicants on writing a stand-out resume<\/a>:<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cThe key,\u201d [Bock] said, \u201cis to frame your strengths as: \u2018I accomplished X, relative to Y, by doing Z.\u2019 Most people would write a\u00a0resume\u00a0like this: \u2018Wrote editorials for The New York Times.\u2019 Better would be to\u00a0say: \u2018Had 50 op-eds published compared to average of 6 by most op-ed [writers] as a result of providing deep insight into the following area for three years.\u2019 Most people don\u2019t put the right content on their\u00a0resumes.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Got it? Let\u2019s break this down into a formula: Accomplished [X] as measured by [Y] by doing [Z]. By following this formula, you can highlight your accomplishments in numbers, and not only through words. Make your resume stand out by making it \u201cresults-oriented.” Imagine that you are applying for a job as a writer. Note the big difference below:<\/p>\n
