According to 500,000+ jobseekers on Kalibrr, diversified conglomerate\u00a0San Miguel Corporation (SMC)<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0was (and still is) their top choice of company to work for. SMC received the highest number of applications and searches from March 2015 to present. While their ranking\u00a0didn’t come as a surprise to most of us, what\u00a0was actually quite interesting with the results were that jobs in the government sector were the second most popular choice. This is already based on the total applications received by the\u00a0Department of Education<\/a><\/strong>,\u00a0Department of Budget and Management<\/a><\/strong>,\u00a0Bureau of Internal Revenue<\/strong><\/a>,\u00a0Department of Finance<\/strong><\/a>,\u00a0Department of Transportation and Communication<\/strong><\/a>, and\u00a0Department of Social Welfare and Development<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0which also had high number of applications received individually.\u00a0Ayala Corporation<\/strong><\/a>,\u00a0Bank of the Philippine Islands<\/a><\/strong>, and\u00a0Monde Nissin<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0then rounded out the top 5 most preferred\u00a0companies in the Philippines. The next round of preferred employers were\u00a0Aboitiz Group\u00a0of Companies<\/a><\/strong>,\u00a0Coins.ph<\/a><\/strong>, which was the only startup that made it to the list,\u00a0Asticom Technology Inc.<\/a><\/strong>,\u00a0Pioneer Your Insurance<\/a><\/strong>, and\u00a0Maxima Machineries Inc.<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

The main driver for these companies to be jobseekers’ top choices could range from salary range, popularity of the company, job security, and the perks and benefits. But whatever the factors are for their choices, one important fact to take note of is that jobseekers today are more informed about the companies they’re applying to and are more considerate of what they can gain from them, thus making them more “choosy” when it comes to applying.<\/p>\n
