Government job hunting season is about to commence. With the Duterte administration set to take office on June 30, over 6,000 government jobs<\/strong> <\/a>will soon be vacated by the outgoing Aquino administration and\u00a0for the taking. For smoother transition, a number of previous government employees will retain their positions but for the most part, the offices of Philippine government need filling.<\/p>\n

According to spokesperson Peter Lavi\u00f1a, among those jobs to open will include\u00a0400 appointive<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>positions for\u00a0Cabinet<\/a><\/strong> secretaries, undersecretaries, and assistant secretaries as well as a number of positions under various government departments and corporations owned or controlled by the government.<\/p>\n

To do away with economic uncertainty, strengthen partnerships, and build up the business community, Lavi\u00f1a let know that hiring for the Department of Foreign Affairs and economic team will be a priority. The Duterte administration expected more than a few courtesy resignations to take place and so smooth transitioning is paramount for them.<\/p>\n

However, filling in the soon-to-be vacant government positions <\/a><\/strong>doesn’t seem like it’s going to be a problem. Already, hopeful applicants are getting a headstart and letting know that they want in. “They come from everywhere,” said\u00a0Lavi\u00f1a. When the transition team met in the Marco Polo Hotel on May 11, there was a pool of applicants waiting in the hotel lobby. Reporters and people in connection to the government are starting to get their various inboxes flooded with requests to connect them with a job.<\/p>\n

Hold your horses, jobseekers, because the transition team will be doing initial screening of the applicants and finally, a shortlist will be approved by president-elect Duterte himself.<\/p>\n
