As some say that money makes the world go round, you might as well go along with the spin and consider gifting yourself a job in the “money industry” as the year ends

Be it start-ups, large corporations, social enterprises, or even schools, hospitals, and government institutions, there are common aspects between all of them that are necessary for ensuring continued operations and growth. These include human resources, information technology (especially in this digital age), and, of course, finance.

Given the transactional nature of almost all businesses, and the need to fund operations and invest in continued growth, organizations employ professionals who can help ensure that all of their finances are in order. Then, there are also companies who employ such experts because their businesses are also rooted in the financial industry– where they operate as investors, monetary consultants, or accounting firms, among others.

Granted, finance-related roles can be hectic and pressure-packed– it involves money after all, and one can only imagine the year-end deadlines trying to be met by financial professionals right in the thick of the holiday season– but as mentioned, finance is a necessity in every business, which all but guaranteeing there are continued growth opportunities for qualified professionals.

If you’ve been considering a move to finance, or are already in the industry and are looking to take another step in your career, the following are opportunities that may be worth your consideration.

Tax Supervisor

If you happen to be an accounting graduate with the necessary Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license, Tax Supervisor or Tax Specialist is one of the common job opportunities available. While a job typical of a CPA, the opportunity of working as a tax supervisor lies within how it is often a fixture in almost all companies, including those that are a widely recognizable brand.

So if you’ve always thought of using your taxation expertise in companies such as fashion and retail company Uniqlo or Philippine multi-media giant ABS-CBN, then their Tax Supervisor or Specialist roles are opportunities you might want to look at applying to before the year ends.

Accountant

Speaking of having earned a CPA license, there are of course Accountant opportunities that are also worth looking into. While in the past CPA roles were more common in accounting firms or traditional corporate set-ups, the opportunities have now also included emerging start-ups as well being able to do so as a consultant or on a per-project basis.

Auditor

Commonly responsible for ensuring an organization’s financial statements are free of material misstatements caused by either fraud or error, Auditors are another key part of a company’s financial team, be it as an internal member or hired externally. If you are a duly licensed Auditor, you have an opportunity to work in both private firms and government organizations.

On the other hand, some companies do not necessarily require a certified auditor, as long one has experience specializing in finance, auditing, and/or taxation. Speaking of tech companies, Analyst roles have also become more prominent as a result of the continued advancement of tech and increased availability of data.
