With the theme “Connecting Education to Employment,” Kalibrr returned with the first leg of our Virtual University Roadshow— #GenerationHired. Over 400 students attended the events which were held on September 26 and 29, 2023 in partnership with Mabalacat City College (MCC) and AMA Education System (AMAES).

For the first day with MCC, their Corporate College and Lifelong Learning Coordinator Mikaela Garcia shared her insights on the ever-evolving career environment in the Philippines. With the topic “The New Work Reality: Tips for Job Seekers Adapting to Workplace Trends,” she highlighted the soft skills that everyone needs in the workplace—empathy.

She also shared tips for students to establish their career network which may be done through LinkedIn. She showed her own account to show further what needs to be done including filling up skills and interacting with posts on the platform. Through these, they may get to know a lot of people within their career industry.

AMAES Alumnus and now the Associate Vice President for IT Group of Citibank Philippines Wally Bambasi also provided the students with tips on how to stand out as jobseekers in a digital world. In his talk entitled “Enhancing Digital Proficiency for Career Success among Graduates,” Bambasi shared his experiences as an AMAES student and as a job seeker after he graduated.

During his talk, Bambasi admitted that he experienced discrimination due to the school he graduated from. Yet, he took it as a challenge and proved that it is up to a person to be successful. While people from the province and farther continue to face certain challenges, Bambasi noted that most of these job seekers are resourceful, which gives them an edge in job hunting.

Kalibrr Marketing and Growth Supervisor Erica Pascual provided the students with a guide on seeking job opportunities with Kalibrr for both sessions. From creating an outstanding profile to applying for a job, she gave them the best way to maximize their skills through the website.

When asked about tips for introverts during job interviews, Pascual shared the importance of being prepared – an example would be creating a document containing interview questions and answers that are related to the companies a candidate is applying to. She also highlighted the need to be overprepared, ask questions, and practice.

The talks were followed by mini-games for participants to win prizes, including Kalibrr merchandise.
