The Philippines Is 4th Top Country Where Your Boss Will Most Likely Be A Woman

When it comes to being the boss lady, it looks like it really is more fun in the Philippines. An article from the Washington Post reported a new study by the International Labour Organization (ILO) that showed an increasing number of businesses are now owned or managed by women. The Philippines is number four on that list. The report shows that in the Philippines, 47.6% of our managers are women, with the number one spot belonging to Jamaica at 59.3%. The United States is number 15 on that list at 43%

.

Another recent study showed that the unemployment rate for Filipino women is much lower than men. This study showed that 6.5 out of 10 unemployed people are male. The gender equality issue has long been a complex one, and while we still have a long way to go, the numbers have been going up (albeit slowly) since 2000. The report offers some valuable insights on barriers to women in management — the top reasons being family responsibilities and role assignments — as well as suggestions on what companies can do to help advance women in business and management.
