Kalibrr had a strong comeback with the Virtual University Roadshow 2.0 with the theme “Connecting Education to Employment”!

With over 500 students, the events successfully wrapped up with partners National University Philippines, STI College Kalibo, and NU-Asia Pacific College which were held on November 23, 24, and December 2, 2023.

The event kicked off with Eloisa Mae Fundar, an alumnus of the National University Philippines. With her presentation entitled “Unlocking Opportunities: Mastering the Transition from Intern to Full-Time Hire,” Fundar shared her experience as she shifted from being an intern to a full-time employee.

She also stated the value of internships such as improving skills, networking, and career exploration. She also emphasized the importance of learning through experience. According to her, “Experience only becomes an asset when you learn from it.”

For STI College Kalibo, Web Project Manager Jethro Jireh Tolosa shared his insights on job seeking and pre-graduation preparation. He shared his journey of looking for jobs until he eventually found his niche.

He also advised the audience to optimize their curriculum vitae and prepare for job interviews. Always try to assess oneself to know what points to improve and what needs to be retained. He also highlights looking before you leap. It is important to always know what you’re getting yourself into so you can prepare yourself.

NU-Asia Pacific College also received insightful advice from their alumnus Ronald Gebilaguin, Lead Character Artist at Ubisoft Massive. He also started his presentation by narrating his career journey from when he was an intern to when he fell in love with his work.

There are two things that Gebaliguin believes one must do: evaluate yourself and the company. He advised the audience to build relationships with professionals by engaging with them through sites such as LinkedIn. He also said to always ask a lot and be comfortable with receiving feedback. It is also important to know the core values of the company and if it aligns with yours. Know their culture and needs for you to know how to navigate inside it.

Kalibrr Marketing and Growth Supervisor Erica Pascual provided the students with a guide on improving resumes and preparing for job interviews for all sessions.

She tackled tips on how to strengthen one’s resume including applying for internships, gigs, volunteer opportunities, and competitions. She made a list of things to not worry about a resume such as its design and unnecessary words. For preparing for interviews, she highlighted the need to research about the company. When you know all about them, you can practice answering questions by yourself. In the end, it all boils down to presenting your best self during these kinds of interviews.

The talks were followed by mini-games for participants to win prizes, including Kalibrr merchandise.
