“Where do you want to eat?” The ultimate, somewhat exciting yet annoying question every one of us has encountered. It takes a whole lot of people giving out suggestions, and when you’re finally able to decide, one of your office mates blurts out that it’s out of their budget. And you go back to square one. Let us help you with that dilemma. Whether it’s a table for two or for ten, these suggested grub hubs around Pasig will definitely make your hungry hearts full without poking a hole in your pocket.

Kanto Freestyle Kitchen

1st Street, Kapitolyo, Pasig Open 24/7 Budget meal: P95 for Eggs Benedict, or P95 for Kanto Boy Breakfast Meal If breakfast meals are your thing, Kanto will be your go-to place, even if you decide to drop by at 12 a.m. It’s the cheapest breakfast hub in the area, and we’re talking Eggs Benedict for P95 kind of cheap. Order their Kanto Boy Breakfast (your choice of viand, 2 eggs, garlic rice, and tomato pesto), for a super-sulit meal. Photo from poklat.com

Aysee Sisig

Food Village, Tiendesitas, Ugong, Pasig Open 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. Budget meal: P180 for two people: pork sisig + rice It’s more of a carinderia than a restaurant, but people don’t come here for the ambiance, they come here for the sisig. Aysee cooks up the best sisig in this side of town. An order of their pork sisig (P140), which is good for two, is enough to satisfy your appetite and your pockets. SoPoong Food House Korean Restaurant

G/F Grand Emerald Tower, Garnet Street corner F. Ortigas Jr. Road, Ortigas, Pasig Open Mon-Sat (11 a.m. to 11 p.m.) Budget meal: P99 Happy Series meal You’ll like the idea of their categories as much as their food—the Happy Series (P99+) for solo meals; the Love Series (P210+) is good for two, as there are two cups of rice and two kinds of dish; the Office Series (P300+) is, well, for when you’re really hungry you could eat a horse. Get their Sopoong Ramen (P99) for some ramen fix, or a Bulgogi Gimbap (P150) to share. Photo from Alven V.

Taco Vengo

16 United Street, Kapitolyo, Pasig Open Mon-Fri (11 a.m. to 2 p.m.); Sat-Sun (6 p.m. to 12 a.m.) Budget meal: P95 soft taco A container van turned restaurant, this taqueria is the newest edition in the neighborhood food finds in Kapitolyo. While their tacos may only be good for one, you can add Nachos por Machos (P160) to share. If you’re looking for a unique dessert, their Chwaffle a la Mode (P130), a churro-waffle hybrid dessert, is the best option. Photo from Marvin Conanan

Karnitas Korner

24-A Phil-Am Road, Kapitolyo, Pasig Open daily (11 a.m. to 10 p.m) Budget: P185 Think porchetta – a savory, fatty, and moist boneless roast pork. Now, imagine that infused with tacos, pastas, and rice meals. Heaven! Karnitas is a hip dining venue that’s perfect for a date, or a small gathering of friends. Grab a hold on the Porchetta Tacos (P185) for a unique Italian-Mexican dining experience. Photo from juice.ph

Skinita Street Foodz

D Stip Building, 20 United Street, Kapitolyo, Pasig Open daily (5 p.m. onwards) Budget meal: P95 + beer (optional) Inspired by the streets of Manila (and we mean graffiti-filled walls, old campaign posters, and dimmed lights), Skinita is a new food joint to try out if you’re looking for some Asian street barbecue, comfort food, and some cheap beer. Try their Pork Belly-cious (P95) which has braised belly, Hoisin sauce, a dash of peanuts, and a lot of pagmamahal. Who could say no to that? Photo from Skinita Street Foodz
